The Cast for Frozen, Disney’s New Broadway Musical, Has Been Announced

Frozen fans, today is a great day! You’ve probably seen the animated film more times that you can count, and if you’re like us, you’ve memorized every single lyric, scene, and Olaf quote. “Let It Go” is not just a song to you, it’s a way of life. Well, get ready, because Frozen is coming to Broadway, and today, Disney Theatrical Productions announced the amazing cast. We can’t contain our excitement! The Broadway musical will open at the St. James Theatre in the spring of 2018. Take a look at the actors who will be portraying our favorite Frozen characters:

Caissie Levy as Elsa

Levy has starred on Broadway in Ghost, Wicked, and the 2014 revival of Les Misérables. We absolutely cannot wait to see her take on “Let It Go.”

Patti Murin as Anna

Murin was in the original Broadway productions of Lysistrata Jones and Xanadu, and we can’t wait to see her as the adorable and quirky Anna!

Jelani Alladin as Kristoff

This will be Alladin’s Broadway debut, and what a debut it will be. We’re looking forward to seeing Kristoff and Sven and the famous “Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People” song!

Greg Hildreth as Olaf

Hildreth previously stared in Peter and the Starcatcher and Cinderella on Broadway. We hope he likes summer, because he’s going to be singing about it a lot!

John Riddle as Hans

Riddle previously starred in The Visit’s Young Anton, and we can’t wait to see him as the devious Hans!

Robert Creighton as Duke of Weselton

Creighton previously starred on Broadway in The Little Mermaid and Anything Goes. Looking forward to seeing him as Duke Weasel—we mean Wesel—ton!

In addition to this amazing cast, Frozen on Broadway will be directed by Michael Grandage, a Tony Award winner and director of three Olivier Award-winning Outstanding Musicals (Red, Merrily We Roll Along, Grand Hotel, Guys and Dolls). The musical will be choreographed by Tony Award winner Rob Ashford (Thoroughly Modern Millie, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Curtains). Ashford also choreographed the recent live-action film version of Cinderella! Music and lyrics are by the creators of the Frozen animated film score, the amazing Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The book will be by Jennifer Lee (Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph), who was the Frozen animated film screenwriter and director (with Chris Buck).

The design team for Frozen includes scenic and costume design by Tony and Olivier Award winner Christopher Oram, lighting design by six-time Tony Award winner Natasha Katz (Aladdin), and sound design by four-time Tony nominee Peter Hylenski. Two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Oremus is the music supervisor and creates vocal and incidental arrangements. Talk about a creative dream team!

Frozen will be playing its out-of-town tryout at the Buell Theatre in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts starting August 17. Tickets for Broadway performances will go on sale later this year! We’ll be keeping an eye out for those so that we can grab them up ASAP!

We absolutely cannot wait to see Frozen on Broadway! If you can’t wait either, head to www.FrozenTheMusical.com to sign up for ticket announcements.
