It’s safe to say we are completely obsessed with the idea of a new DuckTales series coming to DisneyXD this year, so we’ve been refreshing our feeds on repeat to learn more details about Duckburg and everyone in it. Last year, we were treated to the voice cast singing the DuckTales theme song, which completely gave us life. The voice cast includes David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck, Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan as Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack, Beck Bennet as Launchpad McQuack, and Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley. We also recently found out that Lin-Manuel Miranda will be joining the voice cast as Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera aka Gizmoduck! Today, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we’re getting a look at even more of the characters in Duckburg, and we can’t wait to see them in action. Check it out:
Donald Duck, voiced by Tony Anselmo
Donald Duck will now be in the main cast of DuckTales, and we can’t wait to see what shenanigans he gets in to. According to Entertainment Weekly, co-producer Francisco Angones said of Donald Duck in the new series:
“He’s been a single parent obsessively taking care of the boys, and he’s a little bit overprotective and doesn’t want to take a lot of risks, whereas so much of Scrooge’s success is based on the fact that he’s willing to take risks. In our world, about 10 years ago, Scrooge and Donald used to go on these big, crazy, rip-roaring adventures, and then they stopped talking to each other, to the point where when we start our show, Huey, Dewey, and Louie don’t even know that the richest duck in the world and this legendary explorer is their great uncle.”
Donald Duck also apparently moves his houseboat into Scrooge McDuck’s pool, which is proof that he’s living his best life in the new series:
Gladstone Gander, voiced by Paul F. Tompkins
Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck both consider Gladstone Gander as a nemesis. Angones added in the Entertainment Weekly exclusive:
“The great thing about Gladstone is that since Donald is fundamentally unlucky, Gladstone is supernaturally lucky, and so Scrooge and Donald can both agree that they hate Gladstone because he does nothing and gets everything.”
Hilarious. We can’t wait to see this rivalry unfold further!
Gyro Gearloose, voiced by Jim Rash
Gyro Gearloose is Scrooge McDuck’s in-house mad scientist and we are totally digging his new look in the upcoming series. He also is the mentor to Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera aka Gizmoduck, voiced by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Can’t wait to see what inventions he comes up with next.
Goldie O’Gilt, voiced by Allison Janney
We’re so excited that the amazing Allison Janney will be voicing this iconic character! Goldie O’Gilt is Scrooge McDuck’s longtime paramour. The two are fellow adventurers and definitely have found their match in each other. David Tennant apparently geeked out the most when he heard Allison Janney’s voice come to life as Goldie—we’re right there with you, David Tennant!
Ma Beagle, voiced by Margo Martindale and the Beagle Boys, voiced by Eric Bauza
These are some of our favorite villains in Duckburg, and we can’t wait to see what schemes they come up with in the new DuckTales series. Ma Beagle is surely going to be as sassy and no-nonsense as ever based on the photo above.
Flintheart Glomgold, voiced by Keith Ferguson
Flintheart is just as rich and Scottish as Scrooge McDuck in Duckburg and, according to Entertainment Weekly and executive producer Matt Youngberg, will apparently be bigger and better and bolder than ever in the new DuckTales series!
Mark Beaks, voiced by Josh Brener
Mark Beaks can best be described as a tech industry billionaire, which offsets the more old-school billionaire status of Scrooge McDuck and Flintheart Glomgold. Youngberg also told Entertainment Weekly:
“Mark Beaks doesn’t care as much about money as he cares about status and being buzz-worthy and how many followers he has. Josh Brener was so incredibly on all the time, selling and pitching. He’s a character who’s so broad and over the top, you love to be annoyed by him.”
Our DuckTales fan hearts are full with the reveal of these reimagined characters and we can’t wait to see them on new adventures. We’ll be singing “woo-oo” all day.
