This morning, Entertainment Weekly released some rare footage from the recording booth of The Lion King, featuring the voice talent behind Scar’s iconic villain song “Be Prepared.” In the video, you can see Jeremy Irons (Scar), Whoopi Goldberg (Shenzi), Cheech Marin (Banzai), and Jim Cummings (Ed) in the booth creating these memorable and enduring voice roles.
Watch the video on Entertainment Weekly at this link, or watch below. It’s awesome to see these actors at work and to see how even though it’s voice work, their body language definitely affects the performance. The clip even includes a brief appearance by James Earl Jones as Mufasa. He will be reprising the role in the upcoming live-action The Lion King!
Be prepared for this rare behind the scenes footage of Jeremy Irons as Scar to fill you with pride.
