After last season’s emotional finale, Once Upon a Time season 7 will be an entirely new kind of fairy tale. Henry is grown up; Emma, Snow, and Charming are gone; but if we get to see new characters like Tiana from The Princess and the Frog show up in the Enchanted Forest, we’re in.
According to TVLine, Tiana (played by Mekia Cox) first arrives on the scene in episode 3 of the show’s next season. “We meet Tiana in a fairy tale realm in turmoil,” say Once creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis. “She’s a princess with a mission — to restore freedom to her people.”
In the above first look Tiana (left) is with Henry (Andrew J. West), Hook (Colin O’Donoghue–seriously so glad he’s returning to the show), Regina (Lana Parilla), and another princess newcomer: Cinderella (Dania Ramirez), who’s a different incarnation of the character than we’ve seen previously on the show. So many realms. So much intrigue. Please just let Tiana and Cinderella be friends!
“Tiana’s most defining characteristic is her strength,” the Once creators noted. “She’s been through a lot when we meet her, but she never wavers even when doubting oneself would seem to be the most logical, and safe, course of action.
“She has her share of enemies, but that goes with the territory when one is fighting for a just cause.”
Well as if we weren’t already clutching our Pumpkin Spice Lattes and planning a jaunt to the country for Apple Picking, we can now add another reason of our long list detailing we want Fall to get here already: Once Upon a Time premieres in its new timeslot, Fridays at 8/7c, October 6 on ABC.
