Nothing beats an actual trip to the Disney Parks, but we may have found the second best thing. Google Street View is showing us a whole new world because for the first time ever, you can visit the Disney Parks from the comfort of your own couch!
Skip the crowds and use Google Street View’s 360-degree camera to take a virtual stroll down Main Street, U.S.A. or say hi to your favorite Disney characters. We ran into Goofy at Disneyland: To capture a series of immersive 360-degree panoramas, Google used Street View Trekker—a wearable backpack featuring a camera system on top.Shoutout to the lucky operator who got to wear the Trekker and wander through the walkways and structures of both The Happiest Place on Earth and The Most Magical Place on Earth! The captured imagery was digitally stitched together so that we, too, can explore the Parks to infinity and beyond.
What a useful tool for planning every hour of our busy Disney Parks itineraries! Although we can’t actually hop in a teacup from Mad Tea Party through our phones or computers, these 360-degree panoramas are still pretty cool. Try your hand at it:
These are all the locations you can explore, captured by Google’s trusty Trekker:
- Disney California Adventure
- Downtown Disney District
- Magic Kingdom Park
- Disney Springs
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Pandora – The World of Avatar
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
- Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
Google Street View features this new Disney Parks imagery on its gallery page for the breathtaking natural wonders of the world—a spot well-deserved. Tell us how your virtual tour of the Disney Parks went in the comments!
The music and lyrics for “A Whole New World” were written by Alan Menken and Tim Rice.
