A New Mandarin Production of Beauty and the Beast Is Coming to Shanghai Disney Resort

If you want adventure in the great wide somewhere, head on over to Shanghai Disney Resort! The new Mandarin production of the Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast is coming to the Walt Disney Grand Theatre in Disneytown at Shanghai Disney Resort on June 14. Tickets will go on sale starting May 24, and we’re all invited to be a guest!

After six months of searching far and wide across China, a dream team of over 80 performers and crew members was assembled.

Out of all the chosen Chinese talent—both well-known and undiscovered of all ages, and some international—you might recognize a few familiar faces from the Resort’s last hit Broadway musical The Lion King. The cast features YaoRong Guo as Belle, DouEr Sun as Beast, Yang Liu as Gaston, Meng Xu as Mrs. Potts, HaiFei Mao as Lumiere, Pai Peng as Cogsworth, Zhi Zhang as LeFou, XueLiang Ma as Maurice, ShaoYu Li as Madame de la Grande Bouche (Mrs. Wardrobe), and YaYu Chen as Babette.

As the cherry on top, the show is accompanied by award-winning music composed by the legendary Alan Menken, who met the cast in Shanghai earlier this year! Check out Menken with the Beauty and the Beast team:

The original Broadway creative team is also working with the local cast and crew in Shanghai to bring the magic on stage. We can’t wait to see the tale as old as time unfold at Shanghai Disney Resort this summer!

Music and lyrics for “Belle” were written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
