This year, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther and Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time introduced us to two strong, wise, and truly inspirational characters, as well as to the incredible women who play them: Letitia Wright and Storm Reid.
As Shuri in Black Panther, Wright stole the show with her intelligence and sense of humor. As Meg Murry in A Wrinkle in Time, Reid showed us a well of emotional depth (and even made us cry a few times). When these two got together to interview one another, we knew we were in for a whole lot of inspiration. Watch this video to learn all about what their roles mean to them, how their lives have changed, and the really great way Reid refers to icon Oprah Winfrey.
Our favorite part of the conversation comes when Wright asked Reid how life has changed since A Wrinkle in Time came out:
“I haven’t changed at all … I still want to be the same, regular girl that was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. But, of course, I’ve gotten more attention, which is new,” Reid said.
Wright responded: “I don’t find that I’ve changed — my circumstances have changed. Overall, the support, and seeing everybody be so connected to our characters … I think in a sense that we’ve really made a positive mark on the world, and it’s something to be proud of.”
These ladies certainly have a lot to be proud of, and we can’t wait to see where their careers take them.
