Don Cheadle is out there making DuckTales! The Academy Award-nominated actor, who you might recognize from Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War, will guest star as the one and only Donald Duck in the animated series on Disney Channel. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at Cheadle in the recording booth:
Cheadle will be lending his talents as Donald’s clear and coherent voice, due to an inventive voicebox. What a concept!
After hearing this amazing news today in a DuckTales panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con, we’re totally clearing our calendars for the one-hour season one finale on Saturday, August 18 on Disney Channel, DisneyNOW, and Disney Channel VOD. Watch a preview below:
Here’s what Cheadle said of his role:
“You’ve got to do your homework and bring your a-game when you’re trying to voice Donald Duck … What makes a duck tick? What does a duck want? What will a duck sacrifice for what he wants? And these are questions that people have been pondering for many, many centuries.”
Cheadle clearly did his homework on duck philosophy, and we truly respect that.
And he isn’t the only star in the finale—Lin Manuel-Miranda, Catherine Tate, and Kimiko Glenn will reprise their roles as Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera (a.k.a. Gizmoduck), Magica De Spell, and Lena, respectively. This voice cast is iconic!
There sure is a lot to live up to as the iconic Donald duck, but if anyone can do it, Don’s the one!
