Star Wars and Marvel fans, rejoice! Your day is about to be made because new series are coming to the Disney+ streaming service. Recently, Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed two previously unannounced series that will debut on the platform, and the name of the upcoming streaming service: Disney+. Here’s everything we know so far about the series:
First up, journey into the Star Wars universe for an all-new live-action series! The second Star Wars series to be announced for the platform (the first being The Mandalorian), this new show will take place during the formative years of the rebellion, prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and will follow Rebel spy Cassian Andor as he fights to restore hope in the galaxy. Diego Luna, who played Andor in Rogue One, will be reprising his role for the series and expressed his excitement: “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.” We are so excited to see more of Cassian Andor! A release date for the series has yet to be announced, but Lucasfilm is slated to begin production next year.
Marvel fans will also be in for a treat when the streaming service rolls out, with a new live-action series from Marvel Studios, centered around the god of mischief, Loki. Tom Hiddleston will return to play Loki, and we are overjoyed!
Disney+ is available for pre-order in the US. Be among the first to have it and start streaming November 12.
